Musician Akon has called for black Americans to start making an exodus “back to Africa” following the verdict in the Zimmerman trial. Akon, who was born in the United States but primarily grew up in Senegal, declared that black Americans “don’t deserve this treatment” after the jury’s decision.

On his Instagram account, Akon wrote, “Every African-American in the United States need to move their money, family, knowledge back to Africa were [sic] you will be treated like the royalty you are,” saying that the U.S. “is not your country.”
