Obamacare’s Self-Sabotage

by Yuval Levin

Be sure you don’t miss Ramesh’s Bloomberg column today, answering the popular argument of the moment among Obamacare defenders: that since Obamacare is on the books, the continuing case against the law effectively amounts to sabotage.

Ramesh does his usual superb job forcing that “argument” to confront reality, and showing how it is the design of the law itself that undermines its prospects for success. All that’s left to add about the sabotage defense, I think, is that in a free society, when you find yourself questioning whether it is legitimate to disagree with your opinion, you’ve probably lost your bearings. It happens to lots of people on every side of our politics now and then. It has happened to some Obamacare defenders lately.
