Media Matters on Voter ID
Media Matters has one of its typical posts responding to my voter-ID column, accusing me of deception while pointing out no errors and mis-stating a key fact along the way. According to Media Matters, “CBS News reported that 70 percent of African-Americans in North Carolina voted early in 2012, an option this new legislation forbids.” This is false. The number of days for early voting is reduced, not eliminated, and as the Washington Post notes, “the law still requires the same number of hours of early voting — just over a smaller period of time. County election officials can either extend hours on a given day or provide more early voting locations.”
But my favorite part of the Media Matters post is the wonderfully insolent screen cap of me they use to go along with the post. This is why NR staff doesn’t dare cross me, folks!
