Pelosi: I Don’t Want to Be Speaker Again

by Andrew Johnson

Nancy Pelosi says she wouldn’t want to be speaker of the House again if Democrats took back the House. “No, that’s not my thing,” Pelosi, who served as speaker from 2007 to 2011, told National Journal. “I did that.”

Because of her experience in what she called a “very exalted position,” Pelosi said, she respects John Boehner more than she does some Republican House members. She characterized the GOP as being ”hijacked by obstructionists” and “nowhere on the spectrum of trying to get the job done.”

The California congresswoman said she remained hopeful that the House would pass some kind of immigration reform, saying, “There’s a confidence about the inevitability of it on our side that is up against the inconceivability of it to them.”
