An Excellent Obama Appointment

Text

It’s not often that I have good cause to praise President Obama’s actions, so I won’t pass up the opportunity to highlight his appointment of my Ethics and Public Policy Center colleague, and former National Endowment for the Humanities chairman, Bruce Cole to the Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial Commission.

Bruce, not incidentally, is a leading critic of Frank Gehry’s “unintelligible” and “trivializing” design for the Eisenhower Memorial. So his appointment ought to encourage those who, as Bruce puts it, don’t want to “squander their tax dollars on an inappropriate monument to a great American.”
