Krauthammer’s Take: Obama’s Constitutional Turn for Political Cover

by NRO Staff

President Obama went to Congress to get authorization to use military force against Syria because it was necessary politically for him to do so, Charles Krauthammer said Wednesday night.

During his regular appearance on Special Report, Krauthammer argued that President Obama is not a true believer in the separation of powers and that his apparent conversion is mere expediency.

“I don’t think it’s a sudden embrace of the separation of powers or of renewed interest in constitutional action [. . .] and all of a sudden he develops religion on the eve of the supposed strike [on Syria],” Krauthammer said. ”The reason is, he was alone and naked in the world.”
