Trayvon’s Mother to Testify at Senate Hearing

by Alec Torres

The mother of Trayvon Martin, Sybrina Fulton, is scheduled to act as a witness for the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Right, and Human Rights. The subject of the hearing, set for next week, will be “stand your ground” laws. Senate Majority Whip Richard K. Durbin (D., Ill.), chairman of the subcommittee, announced on Thursday that Fulton would be a witness.

Fulton will be testifying alongside Lucia McBath, whose son, Jordan David, was killed at a gas station in Jacksonville, Fla. David’s alleged killer, Michael Dunn, has been charged with murder, but the trial has been delayed until next year after the defendant pleaded not guilty.
