The sixth circuit court of appeals today told John Kennedy he has to comply with the the Obama administration’s abortion-drug, contraception, and sterilization mandate.
Kennedy, an Ohio businessman who sells auto and medical-device parts, sued the Department of Health and Human Services over the mandate, ”simply trying to ensure that my family does not spend our money in a way that directly supports conduct that violates our deeply held beliefs.” We talked about his religious-liberty case last October here.
Brian Burch of CatholicVote, which has joined Kennedy’s Autocam in his lawsuit, does point out in an e-mail that this particular circuit “has the dubious distinction of being the appellate court most overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court.”
Ed Whelan has more on the “sloppy” ruling.
This HHS mandate may be a Supreme Court case before long. And even Obama appointees have ruled against administration radicalism on religious liberty.
