October Is Upon Us

by Michael Potemra

Here’s what reminded me: the annual piece saying Bob Dylan should be awarded the Nobel Prize for literature. If I remember correctly, I’ve written this piece in some years; this year it’s in the New York Times, and written by a fellow named Bill Wyman (not the Bill Wyman, of the Rolling Stones). I like Dylan immensely, but I’d vote for Haruki Murakami. The oddsmakers are favoring Murakami this year, and he would be a worthy recipient. Announcement to come, probably but not definitely, on October 10.
