Carney: Obamacare Causing GOP ‘Extreme Agita’

by Andrew Johnson

White House press secretary Jay Carney said Tuesday’s opening of the individual health-insurance marketplaces is causing Republicans “extreme agita” as they attempt to use the current budget negotiations to defund the law or delay its implementation.

“One might surmise that the extreme agita that you see among Republicans right now over the Affordable Care Act and Obamacare is a direct result of the fact that, beginning tomorrow, there is a concrete development that means that millions of Americans for the first time will be able to sign up for that health insurance,” Carney told reporters.

The House on Saturday passed a continuing resolution that delays the law’s implementation for a year and repeals the legislation’s medical-device tax. The Senate convenes this afternoon to vote on that bill.
