Non-Essential Federal Employees Won’t Go Without Entertainment

Text

Federal employees in Washington, D.C. affected by a government shutdown will be able to entertain themselves tomorrow thanks to the Sixth & I Historic Synagogue.

The synagogue, which also describes itself as “cultural center,” will be hosting Shutdown Central tomorrow for “affected employees and anyone else who needs a place to hang out until an agreement is reached.” The list of entertainments includes “Political Ping Pong, board games, reading materials, constant streaming of The West Wing, and an informal meeting space with all of the essentials for non-essentials—free coffee, food, and Wifi.”

The Hill reports that if the shutdown isn’t promptly resolved, the synagogue will become a “community incubator” and will host workshops in non-essential federal employees’ areas of expertise, such as social media or yoga.
