Kelly Ayotte encouraged her fellow Republican senator Ted Cruz to not take any effort to delay a possible short-term deal out of the Senate to reopen the federal government and raise the debt limit. “It’s up to him — I would hope that he wouldn’t,” the New Hampshire senator said on CNN on Wednesday morning.
“What’s he trying to gain at this point?” Ayotte asked on CNN on Wednesday morning. “I would hope that whatever comes forward that we would allow a vote on it as soon as possible because we are coming up against this deadline.”
She also encouraged Speaker John Boehner to bring the deal for a vote in the House, even if it meant letting it pass with Democratic votes.
