Newark mayor Cory Booker on Wednesday easily prevailed over Republican Steve Lonegan in New Jersey’s special Senate election. The Associated Press called the race for Booker with 58 percent of the vote counted; at the time, Booker held a 13-point margin over Lonegan, 56 to 43 percent.
Booker will fill the seat formerly held by the late Frank Lautenberg, who died in June.
UPDATE: With 99 percent of precincts reporting, according to Politico, Booker won by 10 points, 54.6 percent to 44.3.
