Jeb Bush Urges GOP to ‘Have a Little Bit of Self-Restraint’

by Eliana Johnson

Former Florida governor Jeb Bush came out swinging against the recent effort by some Republican senators to defund Obamacare. In remarks that appeared to be directed squarely at freshman senator Ted Cruz, Bush urged the GOP to let opposition to the president’s health-care bill arise naturally.

The potential 2016 presidential candidate said, by way of advice to his fellow Republicans, “Have a little bit of self-restraint, it might actually be politically a better approach, but we don’t even hear about that because we’ve stepped on that message.” He continued, “I think Republicans need to just take a step back, show a little bit of self-restraint, and let this [opposition to Obamacare] happen a little bit more organically.”
