The Media and Obamacare

by Stanley Kurtz

Rich, with the shutdown out of the way, the press has certainly turned full-force to the Obamacare fiasco. They don’t seem to have much wanted to at first, but once Obama broke his silence with that ill-fated Rose Garden appearance, there was little choice but to cover.

My post wasn’t arguing against those who said the media would have stayed on Obamacare if not for the shutdown, by the way. That view looks right now, but I didn’t have a dog in that fight. My interest was simply to help concentrate attention on the Obamacare story once there was no longer an excuse for ignoring it. Happily, the administration’s ham-handed efforts at damage control solved the problem.
