Another Tech Failure Prevents Users on Federal, State Healthcare Exchanges from Signing Up
Users on the federal and several state healthcare-exchange websites were unable to enroll in health insurance yesterday after the federal data hub went offline.
Terremark, the Verizon subsidiary which runs the data center that operates Healthcare.gov, underwent a failure in a networking component Sunday and the attempted fix crashed the system, according to Department of Health and Human Services spokesman Joanne Peters. The failure hit the Data Services Hub, which connects the federal exchange to various federal databases, preventing users on some state exchanges from signing up, as well.
The failure comes one day after HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius promoted the Hub on the HHS website.
