Obama: ‘Grossly Misleading’ to Say ACA’s Cancelled Plans, People Can ‘Just Shop Around’

Text

President Obama stood by his dubious and increasingly controversial promise that Americans can keep their insurance plans under his health-care law, and accused those making claims to the contrary of being “grossly misleading.” He claimed critics are not providing the full context of changes to previously “substandard plans,” and argued the plan terminations are caused by insurance companies rather than the new health-care law.

Nonetheless, in his speech today in Boston, the president encouraged those that have received letters of dropped coverage to look for a new one on their state marketplace or the Healthcare.gov website. “Just shop around in the new marketplace,” he said.

During this portion of the speech, the president was interrupted for a second time by hecklers protesting the construction of the Keystone XL oil pipeline.
