That a drone killed Hakimullah Masud, the leader of the Pakistani Taliban, is wonderful wartime news. A dedicated murderer of the innocent has been laid to rest. The strike illustrates that American intelligence networks are formidable, and that no place on this earth is safe from our reach. The Taliban will believe that Pakistani officials were involved, whether they were or not. This will increase the paranoia of our enemies.
The strike also demonstrates a force of will on the part of President Obama. This was a blow of operational and political significance. Congratulations to our national-security team, civilian and military.
