CMS to Invite 275,000 Consumers to Try Signing Up Again on Federal Exchange

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will be sending 275,000 e-mails this week to consumers who had difficulties creating an account or logging into the federal health-care exchange.

The e-mails are meant to entice consumers to return after being burned by the site’s infamous glitches and errors. The agency will be sending the e-mails in waves of 10,000 so as to keep users from all returning at once.

Julie Bataille, director of the CMS Office of Communications, says that many of the issues that plagued the site’s ability to create accounts have been resolved.

The agency is working under a self-imposed November 30 deadline to eliminate glitches and have the website functional.
