Napoleon’s Advice to the GOP

Text

That would be this, or words to this effect: “Never interfere with an enemy when he’s in the process of destroying himself.” Forget the Upton plan, or Mary Landrieu’s Hail Mary pass in the Senate. In the wake of President Obama’s Wizard of Oz press conference yesterday, at the end of which he pulled aside the curtain on himself: Don’t do something, just stand there. You didn’t vote for it, not once, not a single time, ever.

True, you did nominate the one man who couldn’t possibly run against Obamacare, and so inflicted the dreaded Second Term upon a suffering nation, but nobody’s perfect. To quote another field general, Ed Koch, “the people have spoken, and now they must be punished.” Or, if you prefer Mencken, “the common people know what they want and deserve to get it, good and hard.” Obama threw a spanner into his own Rube Goldberg machine yesterday and the best thing you can do is to sit down, shut up, get out of the way, and enjoy the show.
