Van Hollen Won’t Reject Mandate Delay

by Patrick Brennan

When asked this morning whether Obamacare’s individual mandate should be delayed, Democrat Chris Van Hollen, ranking member of the House Budget Committee, wouldn’t rule it out. “As of today, no,” he wouldn’t support delaying the mandate, he said. “But obviously if you can’t sign up,” he admitted, the mandate could possibly be delayed. “But right now we’re making progress, it looks like people will be able to sign up,” he said.

The federal government hasn’t been forthcoming about sign-up rates, however, and it’s unclear how much success customers are now have at purchasing plans.
