Issa: Al-Qaeda Was Involved in Benghazi

Representative Darrell Issa, a top critic of the Obama administration on Benghazi, dismissed today a New York Times report arguing that al-Qaeda wasn’t behind the consulate attacks.

“We have seen no evidence that the video was widely seen in Benghazi . . . or that it was a leading cause,” Issa, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said on Meet the Press today.

“There was a group there that was involved that is linked to al-Qaeda,” Issa stressed, noting that the Times didn’t interview people in “real time,” but after the attacks.
