Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani isn’t buying the “progressive” label attributed to his successor Bill de Blasio.
“I’m getting really annoyed with this concept of ‘progressive,’” he told Fox News on Tuesday. “There’s absolutely nothing progressive in this class-warfare stuff — it’s retrogressive.”
He went so far as to call de Blasio’s platform “basically Marxist ideas” that had been tried and had failed in the past, in places such as Eastern Europe and Asia.
Giuliani also took issue with the attacks on Michael Bloomberg during de Blasio’s inauguration last week, at which Bloomberg was present. He called the comments “vicious” and “mean-spirited,” adding that Bloomberg is owed an apology.
