Will’s Take: Cold Warrior Gates in a ‘Clash of Cultures with the Community Organizers from Chicago’

by NRO Staff

George Will called Secretary of Defense Robert Gates’s memoir a “somewhat schizophrenic book” on Wednesday night.

Gates, who was “one of the great public figures of the last 50 years” nonetheless contradicts himself in his book, Will says: The former secretary of defense laments that President Obama fails to lead, but also says that the president made the most courageous decision he had seen made in a White House, going after Osama Bin Laden.

In the end, Will attributed the conflict between the Cold Warrior Gates and the Obama White House to a “clash of cultures with the community organizers from Chicago.”
