Senator Cardin: ‘I’m Not Quite Clear’ on Whether al-Qaeda Was Involved in Benghazi

Senator Ben Cardin (D., Md.) refused to say whether or not he thought al-Qaeda was involved in the September 11, 2012, attacks on a U.S. diplomatic facility in Benghazi.

“I think it’s more complicated than just one connection,” Cardin said.

When pressed for an answer, Cardin said, “I know there was extremist involvement. Who they were associated with, I’m not quite clear on.”
