Rove: Christie’s Bridgegate Response Is What Tea Party Wants in a Leader

by Alec Torres

Karl Rove said this morning on Fox News Sunday that Chris Christie’s handling of the Port Authority traffic scandal has been so honest and forthright that it ”probably gives him some street cred with tea-party Republicans.”

“I don’t think the Tea Party is going to seize upon Fort Lee and the George Washington Bridge as the defining difference with Christie,” he explained, arguing that conservatives would think “that’s exactly what we want in a leader, someone who takes responsibility.” Christie has received some harsh criticism from the right over the scandal.
