House Intel Chairman: Snowden ‘In the Loving Arms of an FSB Agent’

Text

Mike Rogers, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, doubled down on his theory that Edward Snowden was in cahoots with a hostile foreign government when he leaked the NSA files. Appearing on Face the Nation, he told host Bob Schieffer that there are too many unanswered questions to rule out the possibility.

“I said that he’s likely to have had help,” Rogers said, adding that there are “some interesting questions” that would suggest the Russians in particular were involved in Snowden’s leaks.

“I can guarantee you he’s in the loving arms of an FSB [the Russian federal security ser agent right today,” Rogers added, arguing that the information would be too helpful to the Russians for him to have ended up there coincidentally.

“This wasn’t a random smash-’n’-grab, run-down-the-road, end up in China, the bastion of Internet freedom, and Russia, the bastion of Internet freedom,” he said.
