Ray Kelly: Russians Have Done ‘Everything They Can Do’ For Security

by Alec Torres

Continuing the conversation on This Week about security at the Winter Olympics, former New York City police commissioner Ray Kelly said, “It looks . . . like [the Russians] have done everything they can do.”

With nearly 100,000 security personnel present, Kelly thinks that Sochi itself is secure, even if the rest of the region may not be. ”The major threat is from these Muslim terrorists who are in the North Caucasus,” Kelly said. “I think [the Russians] can prevent an attack probably in the venue itself. . . . I think outside of the area of Sochi there is the risk of an attack.”

“The Russians, they have the tools,” Kelly said. “They’re listening in on everything. . . . I think they are doing everything they think they can do.”
