I thought she was a talented actress, especially after the Good Ship Lollipop sailed. Her teen years show a slim resume, yet she was in some of the greatest movies of the late Forties, including Fort Apache and the brilliant Since You Went Away. And she also starred in The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer, a truly marvelous film. Here she is in an unrivaled comedy scene, with Myrna Loy and Cary Grant: 

Like it or not, Shirley Temple was a central figure in American culture for a long long time. And even better, she had been a subscriber to NR. Rest in Peace.
