Obama: France and England Are Like My Daughters

by Andrew Johnson

President Obama isn’t looking to choose favorites between England and France. During a joint press conference with French president François Hollande on Tuesday, he said it would be impossible to pick which of the two European allies was closest to the U.S. because it would be like choosing between his daughters.

“I have two daughters — they are both gorgeous, and wonderful, and I would never choose between them” he said in response to a question about whether France had replaced Great Britain as the top ally of the U.S. “That’s how I feel about my outstanding European partners: All of them are wonderful in their own ways.”

Hollande jokingly responded that he’s in an “even more difficult” position to choose because he has four children.
