Schumer Kicks Off Speech with Lame Jewish Joke

by Andrew Johnson

Chuck Schumer tried to get a laugh out of the AIPAC conference audience on Monday with a joke about a Jewish woman going to jail for stealing.

At the start of his speech at the pro-Israel event, Schumer told the story of “kleptomaniac” Mrs. Goldfarb, who went before a judge for the seventeenth time in three months for shoplifting, most recently for stealing a can of peaches. Fed up with her conduct, the judge sentenced Mrs. Goldfarb to four days in jail, one day for every peach in the can.

Just before the judge was set to finalize the sentencing with his gavel, Mr. Goldfarb interrupted: “Your honor, your honor: May it please the court, I’m her husband — she also stole a can of peas.”
