The President’s Budget Versus the CBO: Even More Dessert Today, Spinach Tomorrow
The Washington Post has a good chart that maps the spending and revenue projections of the president’s new budget against those of the CBO. What’s the difference? More spending today balanced by more promises to somehow slow down spending tomorrow.
This isn’t really different from my nine-year-old daughter’s promise that she’ll eat all her veggies at dinner if I let her eat candies and cookies before dinner. Right. (The Obama budget also assumes revenue will magically come rushing through the Treasury coffers after Obama implements additional soak-the-rich tax measures. I don’t believe that either.)
