San Francisco Chronicle: Yee ‘Should Go Now’

by Andrew Johnson

The “stunning” revelations of Leland Yee’s involvement in firearms trafficking are prompting the California state senator’s hometown, Democrat-friendly newspaper to call for his resignation. Via the San Francisco Chronicle’s editorial board:

Yee is due his day in court, but his credibility as a lawmaker is entirely shot. The hypocrisy of a lawmaker advocating for juvenile justice and gun control — two hallmark Yee topics — balanced against the federal picture of a fixer in gun deals is too much to tolerate.

Yee should step down now.

The board notes that several of Yee’s colleagues have urged him to resign, including Senate President pro Tem Darrell Steinberg.

On Wednesday, Yee was arrested on federal corruption charges and for conspiring to traffic guns to gangsters in San Francisco. For more, be sure to check out Tim’s post.
