From Bill Buckley’s private collection, we came across a few boxes in the mailroom (found underneath a crate of NR Tee-Shirts!) containing a several dozen hardcover copies of WFB’s acclaimed sailing work, Racing Through Paradise.
The sequel to Airborne and Atlantic High, Racing Through Paradise is the engaging account of Bill Buckley’s daring 1985 month-long Pacific trek from Hawaii to New Guinea. With its 340-plus pages bursting with beautiful color photography (over 200 photos adorn the book), this memoir about sailing, friendship, and life is a must for any Buckley fan, or anyone who enjoys excellent writing. Indeed, the late great critic Hugh Kenner said Racing Through Paradise “takes you through that mad month in one entranced evening. It’s magnetic if you’ve sailed; I’ll guess mesmerizing even if you haven’t.”
If you’re a Bill Buckley fan, we want you to have a copy of Racing Through Paradise for only $12 (which includes UPS shipping and handling). Already have it? Well, get another — this will make a perfect gift for anyone you know who loves WFB, sailing, and excellent writing.
