Democratic Senate Candidate Nunn Becomes the Latest to Call for Shinseki to Go

Michelle Nunn, who won Georgia’s Democratic primary earlier this week to become the nominee for Senate, is the latest Democratic to call on Veterans Affairs secretary Eric Shinseki to resign amid several reports on mismanagement leading to the death of several veterans.

“It has become increasingly clear that we need new leadership to build confidence, focus and accountability at the VA to fix what is wrong with the agency,” read a release from her campaign. “I hope that General Shinseki will step aside to allow for fresh leadership to tackle these pressing issues and support the veterans that the General is deeply committed to serving.”

She joins two other Georgia Democrats in making similar demands: earlier this week, Representatives John Barrow and David Scott separately said Shinseki should resign or be fired. Another prominent Democratic candidate, Kentucky’s Alison Lundergan Grimes, also called on Shinseki to go on Thursday.
