Kinzinger Says Bergdahl Prisoner Exchange Is ‘Shocking’

Even though he’s happy that U.S. Army sergeant Bowe Bergdahl will be able to return home, Representative Adam Kinzinger (R., Ill.) has serious concerns about the perils that will come afterwards.

“The release of five mid- to high-level Taliban is shocking to me, especially without coming to Congress,” he said on Meet the Press. “You now are going to have five people potentially on the ground targeting American troops, Afghan troops, and the Afghan people — there’s a lot of questions that need to be asked here.”

“This whole exchange is shocking to me, and I’m very disappointed,” Kinzinger, an Air Force veteran, added.
