Dem. Rep.: WH ‘Has Not Been Very Good’ at Working with Congress

by Molly Wharton

Representative Adam Smith (D., Wash.) thinks that the White House needs to work on its communication with Congress. Though the Department of Defense has effectively worked with Congress, the White House “has not been very good about keeping in touch with Congress, working with us, consulting with us on major policy issues,” he said on Wednesday at the House Armed Services Committee hearing regarding the Bergdahl exchange.

“If we could just trust Congress a little bit and have those consultations before policy decisions are finalized,” Smith said, “I think it would make this entire town work better than it is right now.”
