Clinton: Investigation into IRS ‘Needs to Continue’

by Molly Wharton

When asked on Tuesday if she agreed with Obama that the IRS scandal is a “phony scandal,” Hillary Clinton told Fox News that ”there are some challenges that rightly need to be made to what is being said.”

What Obama meant with his statement, she explained, was that “there really wasn’t a lot of evidence” that the loss of Lois Lerner’s emails was a deliberate move, “but that’s why the investigation needs to continue.”

Clinton suggested that perhaps the right thing to say would have been: ”Let’s investigate it, but let’s do it as non-partisan . . . as we can.” She concluded: Let’s try to find out what the facts are.”
