Barbara Boxer: Cheney ‘Sick’ to Criticize Obama on Iraq

by Katherine Connell

Senator Barbara Boxer (D., Calif.) thinks former vice president Dick Cheney’s recent criticism of President Obama’s foreign policy is “sick.”

Boxer was asked by CBS’s Norah O’Donnell to respond to Cheney’s assertion in a recent Wall Street Journal op-ed, co-authored with his daughter Liz, that “rarely has a U.S. president been so wrong about so much at the expense of so many.”

“That is sick,” Senator Boxer said Sunday on Face the Nation, adding that the vice president and other members of the Bush administration were responsible for the invasion of Iraq. The senator had earlier praised herself for voting against the war in Iraq, calling it one of her proudest moments.

For Cheney to weigh in on the current situation in Iraq is “a nightmare come back to haunt me, frankly,” she said.

“The Iraqis had their chance, they blew it, and right now they’ve got to figure out how to form a more inclusive government,” Boxer said.
