Vladimir Putin and Russian oligarchs aren’t the only ones feelings the weight of sanctions; John McCain is also dealing with the effects of sanctions put on him. So much so that he had to rearrange his spring break plans, he joked.
Earlier this year, Russia imposed sanctions against the Arizona Republican, along with other American lawmakers. Many of them largely laughed off the sanctions.
On CNN on Tuesday, while McCain was pushing for increased sanctions against Russia following its alleged role in the downing of Malaysian Airlines Flight 17, Wolf Blitzer asked the senator how he is coping with the sanctions imposed on him.
”It’s wrecked my life, Wolf — I was unable to have a spring break in Siberia,” he said. “It’s been a terrible and traumatic experience for me, but I’ll get over it.”
“I’m sure you will,” Blitzer responded.
