Will: After Ten Years in Iraq, President Obama Wants ‘Nation-Building’ in Libya

by NRO Staff

President Obama has learned “nothing” from the United States’ sloppy intervention in Libya in 2011, says columnist George Will. “It was a seven-month assassination attempt against Qaddafi. . . .We decapitated the country and then left.”

What is the president’s solution for the future? “The president doesn’t say, as he should say, ‘This is the most frivolous use of American powers since the Bay of Pigs, and I apologize.’ Instead he says, ‘If only we had got engaged in nation-building.’ This after ten years in Iraq, 13 years in Afghanistan! He wants more of the satisfactions and excitements of nation-building in Libya.”
