Two officers killed a St. Louis man who tried to rob a convenience store with a knife, just miles away from the scene where Michael Brown was killed in Ferguson, Mo. earlier this month.
Details on the incident are developing, but it appears the 23-year-old man was acting erratically outside the store and holding a knife when police arrived on the scene following a verbal confrontation with the store’s owner. Multiple 911 calls were reportedly made regarding the man.
The man refused to put down the knife and yelled something to the effect of “Shoot me, kill me now.” Police say the man charged the officers, prompting them to shoot the suspect multiple times.
The most recent shooting is apparently unrelated to the Ferguson protests.
