Krauthammer’s Take: ‘The Real Scandal’ in Ferguson Is Jay Nixon, Not Eric Holder

by NRO Staff

There is no doubt a troubling “subtext” to Attorney General Eric Holder’s remarks in Ferguson, Mo., says Charles Krauthammer – but he is not the big problem. “The real scandal,” says Krauthammer, “is what the governor has done, Jay Nixon, what he said yesterday.”

In a statement released by his office, Nixon called for a “vigorous prosecution” of the events surrounding Michael Brown’s death. “We don’t need to have an indictment. That assumes there’s a crime here. We have a grand jury which will decide if there was a crime,” Krauthammer said. “Here he is prejudging it, and he’s a lawyer. He’s been a practicing lawyer for 30 years. He knows this is improper.”

“That, I think, has been the most egregious breach of legal ethics thus far,” Krauthammer said.
