Biden: We Will Follow ISIS ‘to the Gates of Hell’
Vice President Joe Biden brought some theological fervor in threatening revenge for the deaths of American journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff, who have both been beheaded by members of the Islamic State over the last few weeks.
“As a nation we are united, and when people harm Americans we don’t retreat, we don’t forget,” he said in Kittery, Maine, on Wednesday morning. “We will follow them to the gates of Hell until they are brought to justice, because Hell is where they will reside.”
Biden used the same language on the 2012 campaign trail when citing the U.S. military’s tracking and killing of Osama bin Laden. During the 2012 vice-presidential debate, he pledged, “If you do harm to America, we will track you to the gates of Hell if need be.”
