Sales of Hard Choices, Hillary Clinton’s memoir of her time at the State Department, are off to a sluggish start. A veteran publishing source told The Weekly Standard that Simon & Schuster was hoping to sell 150,000 books in the first week, but sales remained disappointingly low at 60,000 hard covers and 24,000 ebooks. “It’s a bomb but it will be interesting to see how they spin it,” the source said.
Luckily, Hillary’s recent media appearances have given her an opportunity to do some free advertising. In her interviews last night on CNN Town Hall and Fox News, she made plenty of plugs for her book and repeated the phrase “hard choices” for some subtle messaging.
