Representative Beto O’Rourke (D., Texas) retweeted a tweet implying that Israel’s Iron Dome as an “atrocity.” He proceeded to delete the tweet shortly after.

–8 vote.

O’Rourke was one of the the eight House members who voted against the funding.

“I could not in good conscience vote for borrowing $225 million more to send to Israel, without debate and without discussion, in the midst of a war that has cost more than a thousand civilian lives already, too many of them children,” he said in a statement to the El Paso Times.

Before the vote, one Twitter user tweeted at O’Rourke, encouraging him to “vote no” on funding the Iron Dome, or on sending money to Israel in general. “Stop funding atrocities,” he added, implying that the purely defensive Iron Dome and possibly the State of Israel itself are atrocities.

O’Rourke retweeted the statement, and an image of the RT was captured by Politwoops:

He deleted it 36 minutes later.
