The Past Isn’t Even Past

by Michael Potemra

There has been a great deal of discussion recently about how conservatives should engage with the culture, specifically in the production of art, literature, and music. I call readers’ attention to a conservative who is out there doing it: Jody Bottum, former editor of First Things and former literary editor of The Weekly Standard.

Bottum has been writing lovely folk songs with a deeply traditional sensibility, and some of them have been turned into excellent music videos, which you can watch here. The whole album of seven songs, Send My Roots Rain, is available on iTunes.
