Democrats Hammer Iran Nuke Deal

“I don’t read in this agreement anytime, anywhere inspections, for example, which are critical when you have a 20-year history of Iran deceiving the world and having covert facilities to enrich uranium.”

Was that Ted Cruz? Tom Cotton? Sean Hannity?

From Tuesday’s Special Report on Fox News Channel, those were the words of Senator Bob Menendez (D., N.J.), one of several Democrats who are anywhere from ho-hum to hostile to Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran. Obama has his hands full with members of his own party who are not fans of what he and Secretary of State Kerry have cooked up with their new pals in Tehran.

Iran remains destructive around the globe. Iran is going to remain a problem — not a partner — for the United States and our allies in the Middle East,” says Representative Eliot Engel of New York, the top Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee. “I remain uncomfortable with the fact that we have spent so much time negotiating with a country that opposes our interests in so many ways across the region.”

“Without verification, this is a useless agreement,” said Representative Steny Hoyer of Maryland, the House’s No. 2 Democrat, who could not be more dismissive of Obama’s vanity project.

Many more Democrats seem ready to break with Obama on this life-and-death deal. Congress will have 60 days to weigh this deal before voting on it.

Republicans should have the House vote first on the measure and on any effort to override Obama’s veto, should it come to that. The numbers in the lower chamber are more promising for an overwhelming vote against this pact with the ayatollahs. A large cohort of House Democrats opposed to this destructive nonsense will give Senate Democrats cover to cross Obama.

Obama’s deal with the devils of Tehran may die the death of a thousand saber slices during those 60 days of scrutiny. How ironic that Democrats may be the ones to deal the death blow to Obama’s lust for legacy.
