“I always turn to the sports pages first, which records people’s accomplishments. The front page has nothing but man’s failures.” – Earl Warren
We’re now rain delayed in the top of the 10th inning of Game Seven of the 2016 World Series. In a year of two presidential candidates who both deserve to lose, both of these teams and their fans desperately deserve to win, the Indians having waited since 1948 for their last championship and dominated the American League postseason and come from behind dramatically in this game, the Cubs having waited since 1908 and come from behind repeatedly in the postseason, including a 3-1 deficit in the Series. There have been heroes and goats – Rajai Davis, David Ross, and Javier Baez have each been both tonight, while hero Corey Kluber failed tonight – and there will be endless second-guessing of Joe Maddon’s handling of his pitchers, having pulled Kyle Hendricks early tonight and burned out Aroldis Chapman the past two nights.
Game’s ready to start again. Tune in if you’re missing a great one.
