The Flynn Affair

As Rich Lowry wrote, if officials who intercept all voice and digital communications from outside the U.S. choose to leak condensed summaries to the press, then no American — in or out of government — can trust our government. The issue here is 1 percent what Mr. Flynn said or did not say, and 99 percent whether the leaker is allowed to exploit his or her position. Manifestly, no government can function if anything said to a foreign official can be released by any government official to the press.
